About the Book

This is the second title in the Bridge Mystery trilogy. First published in 1989, this book has been out of print for several years. Like its predecessor, Murder at the Bridge Table, it's a mystery and a bridge textbook all in one, and does both exceptionally well. The first book in the series concentrated on duplicate bridge strategy, while this one centers on rubber bridge - the form of the game played socially.

Critic's Viewpoint

"In today's hand young Matthew has the beautiful Chops as his partner, against Frankenstein and "Pizza" McCarver, at the old Mayfair Bridge Club, run by the great Al Roth - well, you can see already that you'll meet some real-life bridge characters, plus some of the Mayfair's thinly disguised habitues (and sons of habitues), plus young love, plus a murder, plus a notably inept detective. They're all woven together in a nutty but logical plot with lashings of sage bridge advice and heaps of exciting (and sometimes spectacular) bridge hands. You'll laugh yourself silly, but you'll also learn quite a bit about winning bridge."
- Alfred Sheinwold wrote this for his syndicated column in 1989, the year Matthew Granovetter's "I Shot My Bridge Partner" was [Ray Lee] first published. [Ray Lee]

"This is a classic murder mystery... It's crazy, it's logical, it's instructive - but most of all, it's screamingly, drop-dead funny."
- Alfred Sheinwold

"Just re-read I Shot my Bridge Partner. It's a clazy theeng, but I still loved it!"
- Michael Rosenberg
